Scaffidi merupakan mantan Direktur Komite Pengembangan Ekonomi Australia (CEDA) selama 11 tahun sebelum menjadi walikota.
Dalam masa jabatan pertamanya, dewan kota pada 2009 memutuskan rencana masa tugas empat tahun bagi siapa pun menjabat wali kota. Perempuan berusia 52 tahun ini gigih memperjuangkan pertumbuhan berkelanjutan bagi kotanya.
